Origins
Remix started as an a cappella quintet in 2002, and has been rehearsing and performing locally since that time.
Early in 2008 it was decided to expand the format into a choir, to bring the immense enjoyment experienced by the five singers to a much wider number of singers, and audiences.
The result was Choir Remix, set up in September 2008. This a cappella choir has performed on a number of occasions since that time. Choir Remix has recently undergone a change in its musical format, and currently has twenty singers.
Following on from the success of Choir Remix, Dave and Beth were approached by various people who wanted to sing in a choir specialising in popular music, but who were a bit daunted by the challenge of five part unaccompanied singing.
The final result was Remix Voices, the new three part accompanied choirs specialising in the best of popular and easy listening songs from the 1960's up to the present day. There are currently five choirs, daytime and evening in Guildford, and evening in Woking and Reading.
Prior to 2002, all the singers in Remix belonged to the popular eight-part a cappella group 'Mixed Blessings', which ran for over ten years in Guildford and performed locally, including an annual show at the Electric Theatre, Guildford. Dave Smith was also the Musical Director of this group.
